| Service Service is a main part of the Christian walk. In Jesus' ministry He mentions multiple times the importance of serving others. We as the Calhoun Christian Honors Society hold service in an equally high regard. To become a member of the CCS Honor Society you must show that you have a personal commitment to serve, because being in the Honor Society is more than just coming to meetings and events. Being a part of the Honor Society is saying that you accept the commitment to be put under higher standards and already try to help others. I just hope that students that come from our Honor Society and school realize that community service is not done just for the hours. Community service is a grand thing, whether you're helping at the soup kitchen, raking a few yards, or painting some walls. But the mindset that can be for some students is that it can all count for the same hours. It is not because they care or they see a need, no, it is because they need at least a hundred more hours on their application or they won't qualify for the scholarship. That is exactly what is being force fed to all students short on money. It makes everything a race for hours, and not a joyful act of love to be able to pour your heart into someone else's life. So many times people aren't wiling to serve because it, could be uncomfortable, isn't their forte, or takes too much time from their schedule. What we try to instill from action and experience is the drive to want to serve, the desire to be at others feet. As Jesus called us to be servants, we as the Honors Society ask to be used by God in any way. At Calhoun Christian, we want to raise students up that want to serve and want make their lives a living sacrifice to God, so that His kingdom can be glorified through the actions of our lives.
