NOTICE REGARDING WINTER MAINTENANCE

Due to a statewide shortage of bulk salt used for treating parking lots, our winter maintenance company has limited access to salt for our parking lots.  This shortage is affecting suppliers across the region.  The company did its due diligence by pre-ordering salt and placing a deposit, but deliveries have since ceased. They will keep in mind critical areas, including handicap parking and entrances, and will use their best discretion for other areas.  Please be mindful when you are walking on our parking lots; there may be areas that are more slippery than usual.

UPDATE ON THE GIVE AND GROW APPEAL:

We are deeply grateful for the continued prayers and generous support of our community as we continue with the Annual Appeal! We are having a successful fundraising campaign this year and have continued to receive envelopes this week.
If you still know of friends or family that may be interested in partnering with our mission to provide Christ centered education in our community, sending them the QR code or having them mail a check are both still options to give. The matching of all funds raised will continue through the end of January (1/31/26), so there is still time to have donations go twice as far!
We have continued to receive funds this week and will give a final update after the campaign ends this weekend! We are incredibly grateful for each donor and their support of our school. It truly makes a lasting impact on the students at our school and in our community.

For the class competition with envelopes, these are the current classes that are in the lead:
PreK-1st : TIE: Mrs. Lootens's class and Mrs. Moody's class
2nd - 4th : Mrs. Hopper's class
5th-8th : Ms. Jex's class
9th-12th : Mrs. Gordon's class (Sophomore)

THANK YOU!!!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our winter clothing drive! Because of your generosity, we were able to donate eight large bags of socks and outerwear to the Downtown Church.
Your kindness continues to make a meaningful impact in our community.
Thank you for being a blessing!

AUCTION DONATIONS

The auction is coming up quickly on Friday, March 13.  Save the date and make plans to attend! It is a fun night for our school community.  Currently, the auction committee is collecting donations for our live and silent auctions.  This is a huge part of the auction and we are asking each family to please provide at least one item to our event. Parents, families, local community businesses and friends provide some of the best and most creative donations to the auction. Donations could include gift certificates, themed baskets, tickets to events, or even a trip! You do not have to purchase these items for donation. We ask that you ask your family, friends & fellow business owners to help our school with a donation, all which are tax deductible. Donation forms, along with request letters, are available in the school’s main office.  All donations are due to the main office on or before Wednesday, February 25.

Auction tickets on sale now!
Make plans to join us at this year's auction on Friday, March 13. Visit 23 Annual Calhoun Christian School Auction | Auction Frogs for ticket sales, advertising and sponsorship information, and more event details.  Come enjoy a fun night with our school community while supporting a great cause at the same time!

PROTECT YOUNG EYES

Protect Young Eyes is coming back to CCS on February 23, 2026.
Student presentations (more information will be coming) will take place during the day for grades K-12.
Parents are invited to attend this information and important presentation regarding Mental Health and Tech: Protecting Fabulous and Fragile Brains. Logan Bailey from Protect Young Eyes will lead us as we learn more about protecting our children from the potential toll of tech use.
Parent Presentation: Feb. 23 at 6:30 in the CCS Chapel.

SEVERE WEATHER AND SCHOOL CLOSINGS

In the event of emergency situations, a tornado watch or warning, severe weather or snow days, school closing information will be announced on local television stations (WOOD-TV8 and WWMT 3) as early in the morning as possible. A school email will be sent in addition to a text and a post on Facebook .
Please understand that it is not always easy to make the call, especially if snow starts later in the morning.  (Sometimes hindsight is 20/20.)  We will do our best to make the decision we believe to be safe and in the best interest of the education of our students and we will communicate as quickly as possible.  Parents always have the choice to have their children stay home or come to school late if they feel the conditions around their home are unsafe.  Those absences or tardies will be excused.

HOCO ’26 DANCE

Homecoming will be hosted at the school on Saturday, February 7, 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm.  All high schoolers are welcome to join the “Under the Sea” themed night of fun, food and friends!  You can purchase tickets in the office for $35 each which includes your dinner and entertainment for the night.  If your student would like to bring a guest outside of CCS, a form can be picked up in the office and must be filled out and approved before the event.  All dress code guidelines must be observed.
